To prevent frozen pipes:
1. Find and close the shut-off valves for your
outdoor hose spigots.
2. Disconnect the garden hose from outdoor
spigots.
3. Open the spigot and leave open until it's
ready to be used again.
4. Let all of the faucets in the sinks of the
building drip slowly (about a drop a second).
5. Make sure the drains for these sinks are all
draining properly or you could wake up to a
flood. If the drains are not working properly
don't worry, call 678-478-1534
Pipes on the exterior walls of a building are more prone to freezing than others and it
typically needs to stay below freezing for more than 24 hrs. before we start to recieve calls for frozen and busted pipes. During these times
of below freezing temperatures if you experience a frozen pipe you will know because no water will come out of the tap.
When this happens find the section of pipe that is most exposed to cold temperatures and that's probably where it is frozen. If the pipe hasn't already ruptured you may be able to thaw it out using a hair dryer. If you use a extension cord, don't let any part of the cord lay on frozen or puddled water.
